A long time ago, when I was preparing to go to the Netherlands, I was given a graphic description by a dutchman of how toilets there consisted of a platform on which one laid ones dump, out of water, ready for inspection by visual and olfactory means, before flushing it away. Upon arrival at my accomodation, I was sorely disappointed to discover that the lavatories were just like the ones in the Green Pastures of England.

Finally, however, I have had the opportunity to use such a pot. Hurrah!
