Oh i forgot to suggest but you might have already seen it. You must try feni (Cashew liquor), though your piss is gonna stink probably more or equally horrible to eating asparagus.
Also good things to see ( i am sure your lonely planet has them) are calangute beach, fort aguada, basilica of bom jesus (remains of st xavier are here).
